hi guys my dads pc crashed and now he's looking to replace it. i convinced him for what he needs, a laptop would do the trick. where would be the cheapest place to buy a laptop from in your experience? will i find one cheaper online?

his budget it about R4000.00 including software and such. including microsoft office.
they live in kzn area.
thanks guys.

have a look on jump.co.za, online will almost always be cheaper than instore.

Incredible Connection

One thing most stores will not tell you is the warranty procedure is painful. From experience Incredible has the best service (thats how bad the laptop industry is).

I also do not recommend buying online as you cannot test them out - something rather important as things like tactile feedback, keyboard layout and touchpad are very important.

EDIT: On M$ Office, most laptops come bundle with a Office 2010 Starter - this includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Most of the functionality is reduced but its good enough for a lot of mom & pop users. Else you need to get Office Home & Student edition (3 licences) and the price is R700 if you shop around.

What I did when I bought mymom a laptop, is I searched online for what she can afford. Then I went to any pc shop that sells laptops, incredible is a good place, and test it there.

The best prices when I bought hers were at laptopdirect.

Which version of office? You can knock R1000-R2000 off you budget straight away which leaves you with nothing for a notebook....

Why not use the existing version he has?
