I finally found a few lenses that I'm going to buy.

All are Sigma and are used but in excellent condition. The 24-70 was refurbed in the Sigma factory and hasn't been used since while there have only been 20 shots taken with the 12-24.

12-24 F4.5-5.6 - http://www.orms.co.za/product.php?a=view&product=1104
24-70 F2.8 Macro - http://www.orms.co.za/product.php?a=view&product=1522
100-300 F4 EX DG HSM APO - http://www.orms.co.za/product.php?a=view&product=1530

There is also an offer of a 1.4x teleconverter for the 100-300 which I'm considering.

Does anyone have experience with any of these?

I'd get their 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM instead of the one you mention. It's on par with the Canon version.

I agree and did consider it but it's 9K and this one is only R2800. What is the major difference? All I see is F2.8 and 24-70. It doesn't have HSM but is that really all that important? Like I've said before, I'm new to this and don't know a whole lot.

Here's my inexperience questions again. Will a teleconverter work properly on a C sensor and are all those lenses full frame? I plan on getting a 2nd hand 5D next year.

Where'd you get hold of a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 for R2800 from? I wouldn't mind starting off with one of those then move onto either the canon 24-70 or the sigma IF EX DG HSM model at a later stage

I picked it up 2nd hand off the Outdoorphoto site. It's recently be refurbed by Sigma in the US and hasn't been used since.

There is a 2nd hand dealer around the corner from me that has one for 4500 as well. A bit more but still worth it.

A third party one will (sigma is probably your best bet) but the canon model probably wont.

If you look on the sigma site it should tell you if it's full frame compatible.

While on the topic of new lenses... I want to get a nice zoom lens I only have a 55-250mm at the moment... I can get a 150-500mm sigma for around R9000 or I could save for the 100-400mm canon zoom. I have used the canon lens before so I know what it can do. I have not used the sigma lens before so I don't know much about the lens...
