New line, strange speeds.

Line was installed yesterday, but everything is slow (browsing/streaming/gaming - random ping spikes).

There's another line on the same premises, also 2mb uncapped that performs A LOT better.


Edit: Other line is cancelled (end of the month); when there were problems with congestion TelkomZA got it moved to another IMAX/DSLAM, which also improved line stats, but had constant drops in connection afterwards (router problem I think).

Could I now be connected to a congested exchange again?

That upload speed?

Can the difference in upload be the cause?

I spoke too soon.

I tested the router being used on the other line and everything worked perfectly afterwards (with both routers), so I thought something wasn't plugged in correctly or something.

Went out for a bit, came back and so did the original problem.

Will switch routers again tomorrow.

Switched routers again - everything works 100% with the Billion 800VGT (router on other line); switched back everything works 100% on my Netgear DGN2200M.



Edit: Speed test after swapping routers twice.

It could be that the Line errors are cleared every time you swap routers. It then takes a while for the error to degrade the line?

My line syncs perfectly every time.

It's only my PC that's affected; other devices speedtest 100%

Edit: Uninstalled the XFast Lan app that came with my motherboard driver cd.

and then after reinstalling the app:

Permanently deleted now, I really liked it though
