That there is a selling point. Track pads that you have to work around or turn on and off are annoying.

Only R20k mac user spills wine on their keyboard. Us PC users tend to do that with coke or something pleb-like.

That is until apple does their magic cable detection trick like they did with the lightning cable and all of a sudden you are stuck with a R1000 cable that doesn't work.

No - USB-C is a standard, unlike lightning which was proprietary.

Plus they've also said you can.
Your MacBook will charge from USB-C power adapters not manufactured by Apple if they adhere to the USB Power Delivery specification.

MyBB should do a comparison with the local price against the UK and US (including state tax).
 
Jan, we totally need a tally in this review of how many USB-C products you can find in stores locally (like, IC and an Apple store) when you inevitably go off to find a type-C to type-B connector to plug in a hub. I wonder how much power goes through that port for external devices.

I doubt people in IC would know what a usb-c is. The only device you are likely to find its the usb-c adapter at the Apple store.
 
You're going to see USB-c (aka usb 3.1) type chargers with multiple outlets fairly soon (currently in the RMB30 and up range)

They're already starting to be available in here in China (for ones that support 3.1 voltage negotiation), so they should start popping up in a month or two in South Africa. USB-c to OTG is also readily available (so you can plug in a usb stick) at about 10-30RMB odd (probably in the R100 -R150 sales price .za side)

Hopefully this is the last time Apple changes the damn plug type!
