I've been out of gadgets and streaming since I bought my TViX close to 3 years back.

While I'm sure it's doesn't lack much in the way of codecs, formats and file systems - I'm sure it lacks a few things compared to the newer players. The one thing that always annoyed me is a search/filter/tag system on movies.

Is it possible to do this with any new player?

I've got a large library of movies and browsing through each is painful - even separated into alphabetical folders (A,B, C etc). One thing which may be better would be genre folders - but that has issues of its own :/

Best would be to search via title, year or genre.

Possible on anything available?

Lol, jj.

Dolby, I could see you enjoying the HP MicroServer option... Best and most versatile option they say.

Although it may clash with your decor...

It's 299 pounds - not sure on local pricing, but I'd guess between R4,000.00 and R5,000.00 if you can find it.

HP microserver?Please don't tell me it's a server with a beigge box ;)

I'll check it out though.

What about Boxee?
Search?

But, that's the newer revision - 100MHz faster CPU. :D

You can still find the older ones for like R1,000 - R1,200... Insane value for money, considering they come with 250GB HDD and 1GB RAM.

Build quality is incredible.

Pop in a low profile single slot gfx card, a bit of extra RAM (4GB DDR3 is like R200 at the mo').

IIRC xrapidx ditched Boxee for the HP MS...
