so along with my psu dying my mobo has decided to go as well...

...seeing as i didn't really budget for a new motherboard now, i need a cheapish (r1250 max) but decent mobo that is compatible with my current system.

my current mobo is p4m900t-m

cpu: e6600
gfx: xfx 9600GT
ram: 3 gig of ddr2 667 (although ram is cheap so i can upgrade to ddr3 if needs be)

so please any suggestions at what motherboard to look at?

You can get an ASUS G31 mobo that will support your hardware at around 0.6k, maybe even less

cool thanks, i'll google it now...

...seems like entry level mobos are actually pretty cheap :D so the money i save i can put in my "new screen fund"

I have very similar hardware to you and would also recommend a G31 board, personal preference is Gigabyte.

thx ponder...

...now being me lazy i know, but any recommendations (or links where i can go order)

I suspect most online places are closed at the moment, online I can recommend Prophecy & Sybaritic. Else maybe try a local brick and mortar store. Stick to brands like asus, gigabyte, msi & foxconn.

Edit: Dunno if they are open but maybe check what these guys have http://www.esquire.co.za/index.php?mod=submain&SubPage_ID=5
You can buy directly from them with the MyBB001 account.

would these be the type of boards that i am looking at

Yes, those are the exact boards to look at if you are happy with the specs.
There is another model (GA-EG31M-S2) that costs slightly more but offers Gigagbit ethernet if that is one of your requirements but for most people it's not.

ah your motherboard :)

not really one of my requirements, and also not finding it at the online retailers i have used before, ie sybaritic, syberdyne or landmark

but i've found a Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2C IG31 and MSI G41M-FD IG41 Motherboard at sybaritic which kinda looks cool...

...i'll check esquire's price list later on and see what they have, as i think i read somewhere that they are open

yay, they are only closed 25th, 26th, 1st and 2nd...now lets go look for their pricelist (read on a post somewhere where to find it)

and lets hope they have what i am looking for
*crosses fingers*

nice find neverwhere...

...but i guess they are also closed till the 4th

also any experience with shopping with the them?
