New Modem

Currently using the Huawei E172 but my girlfriend will be using that now which means i have to get myself a new one.
Was wondering was is the best modem to get @ the moment? :confused:

The best modem available through Vodacom is the K3765 (7.2mbps). You might wanna try and hold off to see what new modems gets released to support 14.4 and up though.
 
Personally I would go with the E272 or if you want to share one connection between the two of you look at the B970 router. If you must go with the K3XXX range make sure you get the Huawei rather than the ZTE model.

The K3565 (3.6) and K3765 (7.2) is available from Huawei. The K3765 comes as a ZTE version also, so if you decide to go with that, make sure you tell the store to order the Huawei one. The two versions have different stock codes on our ordering system.

Seriously I would not bother, even on a 7.2 you are still limited to the backhaul capabilities of the tower so very few people are even going to see those speeds. Save your money and get a 7.2 modem.

@ skateboardt, you looking @ R2300.00 including VAT for the B970 router if you get it from me. The retail shops cell it for about R2500.00 including VAT I think. Pricing valid untill the 28th of Feb 2010.
 
I think at the end of Feb or March we might see the newer HSPA+ modems available. I think it's the Vodafone K4505 (or Huawei E182).
 
Are Telkom trying to limit the people who upload by still selling this old product. ;)
