New modem

Need to help someone replace a modem which is acting up. Nothing fancy needed except that they still have ADSL but will have fibre in the near future.

I was thinking of getting a modem that will work with ADSL and fibre or is this not possible?

It should also have excellent wifi coverage.

Suggestions?

So a modem/router with wifi. Yes as long as they get one with a WAN port then it will work with fiber later on.
I can recommend the TP-Link routers, Archer D2, D5, D7 or D9 depending on budget and needs, I had a D7 for around 2 years before it got taken out by lightning, I now have a D9 for the past 9 months or so and I'm very happy. All will give you gigabit LAN and 2.4 as well as 5 GHz wifi.

Yup stretch the budget a bit and get at least a D2 for the gigabit.
