New motherboard dead?

Hi guys,

I just bought a motherboard (Asus P5G41T-M LX ) from an online shop. I'm using Samsung DDR3 1333 RAM along with it. Upon testing the motherboard it doesn't work, here's what happens:

- With the RAM plugged in, the CPU fan spins up, but the motherbaord doesn't post.
- With the RAM taken out, the motherboard has the normal beep codes, identifying that there's no RAM.

Is the motherboard dead, or can I assume that it's working due to it beeping when the RAM is out? I've tested the RAM in another motherboard and it's working. Could it be that the RAM isn't compatible with the motherboard? I need to know which part to swap out

Memory QVL (qualified vendor list) is there. Quite a few Samsung modules mentioned. Yours one of them? Tried a single stick of RAM in each slot?

AMI Bios - I shut down before the beeps finished , but I could plug it in again if it'll help diagnose

Unfortunately not. The model number is M378B5773DH0-CH9.


I just thought of something else - I'm using a Pentium 4 630. On the website it says that the CPU's only supported from Bios version 0604, which is the latest bios. Could this be the problem? Unfortunately the only other socket 775 CPU I've got is a 3.20Ghz Celeron, which isn't supported. I could source another one if this might be the problem.

Managed to source another CPU, flashed it to the latest bios and now the P4's working . Thanks for the replies and input

Could've been the RAM.

Just get the P5G41T-M LX, works perfect with Corsair DDR3 RAM.
