Hi

Thinking of buying the ASUS AS-H81 Gamer Motherboard - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81GAMER/

Little bit confused regarding the following:
4 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

Does that mean I can put in 4x 16GB ram = 64GB, or only 4x 4GB ram = 16GB?

I would like to put in two 8GB, will that work?

Thanks.

* Due to Intel® chipset limitation, this motherboard can only support single-side memories when four modules are installed and they will run at the maximum transfer rate of DDR3 1066 MHz.

It will work with 2x8GB.

Budget?

Maybe we can get you a better board?

Forgot to mention, I'm using a i5-3570 CPU 1150 socket. Might upgrade to a Intel Core i7-4790 later on. But for now I need a motherboard that will support my current CPU.

Bad news first, the i5 3570 is not 1150, it is 1155.

This is the best you will get Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H R1299

It has all the thing you listed.

Ahhh you're right, my bad.

Awesome, thanks bud. That one actually looks quite decent... Will place the order now :)

Thanks for all the help. I would have ended up buying the 1150.

Just a "fun fact" about that board. Don't try to set it up with low resolution CRT or it will freeze right after POST.

I had some fun times figuring that one out xD.

Ha ha cool, thanks for letting me know. So far the board is working like a charm :)

Got another question now... I would like to buy the Kingston HyperX Fury Series Memory - 8GB DDR3-1600MHz

It's compatible with P55, H67, P67, Z68, Z77, Z87 and H61 Intel chipsets. My motherboard is a Intel B75 Express Chipset, so will the ram work on it?

Thanks ponder, appreciate it.

That's a good price as well. Damn, if only they had stock. (Shipped in 5 to 7 working days) I need the ram by latest Wednesday / Thursday unfortunately.

The Transcend RAM is only R30 more and in stock, you will have it by Wednesday.
