Just watched Invictus - really worth watching and deserving of it's high rating.

The Goofs listed here are quite funny - I noticed a few of them while watching the movie, like Mandela's PA, Zelda La Grange, is cast as a black woman, when in fact she is white, and while the Boks are out jogging they run past a new Hyundai which wasn't around those days.

Yeah, when the movie is in your back yard so to speak, you pick up goofs a lot easier. I believe Ponte had Coke advertising in '95. I was young so I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure.

Anyway, the one thing that bugs me about Invictus is no credit is given to Kitch Christie. It would have us believe Pienaar and Mandela led the team to victory which isn't entirely true. Also, Matt Damon is tiny compared to Pienaar!

I'm going to go see it today but i'm sure it will be nothing sort of great fun because its set here in my backyard how cool is that.

Spot on! There were 1 or 2 little issues, but who cares? Overall I enjoyed it and walked out of the cinema not feeling cheated out of my admission fee - unlike some other movies recently!!

Saw it today, and as sports movies go, I thought it wasn't bad at all.

About the Goofs wtf so what?

Who suggested that the goofs detracted from the quality of the movie - lighten up and get a life. :wtf:

Chill out - I enjoyed the movie. Read my comments carefully. :)
I thought you were agreeing with the racist post that suggested the mention of the goofs were malicious.

Thanks to the MOD for deleting the racist cr@p.

There were some small goofy stuff (like a brand new Getz while Mandela's old 7-series drove by) but that's minor. Overall I thought it was pretty decent, especially Morgan Freeman's acting ! Matt didn't step up that well I thought.
Just my 2c worth.

Ja, that was a pathetic post. Some folks are always quick to nitpick and criticise while forgetting to look at the overall picture. Yes, there are some errors but like I said before, who the hell cares? Movie was great and should get some Oscar nominations.

/my first comment was in reply to the OP.

ya I enjoyed it, I agree it was an oversimplification of SA politics and etc etc but you know it worked on an emotional resonance level which is where it was aimed.

I just thought it was a good movie full stop i really couldn't fault it on anything

:wtf: Racist post??? Sheat guys I apologize. I quoted something from a humorous tongue-in-cheek website that doesn't take itself seriously and pokes fun for the sake of fun.

Geez sorry to have hurt your baby feelings
EDIT: Movie was awesome btw, the big white Hyundai Getz was funny!

LMAO!

So when is it playing on E-TV?

i saw the hyundai getz and was so busy checking to make sure it had the old school yellow number plate that it didn't even register that they weren't around then lol

I thought it was dreadful - although the accents were pretty decent, especially Damon. Brief review here: http://synapses.co.za/eastwood-oprah/

I agree it should be called in invomitus. Why did we need so many foreigners playing South Africans, even Pienaar's mother is foreign. Also why not get real Rugby players (right size) to play? I know that Damon is short (but who needed him anyway?). Francois acts in the Lay ads so he could have acted as himself.

The movie consisted of the sayings of Mandela tranlated into film.

yeah . more of a sermon than a story. way too much of a schmaltzy formulaic sport movie for my liking.
