Has anyone got one of these new data cards. I would like to know how much they cost, can you take it on contract or if they are even available?

That would be awesome. I desperately want to dump Vodacom and join MTN. Im tired of paying for crap that doesnt work properly. Please post or pm if you get a price. Ill do the same if i find something!

According to the powers that be at MTN the cards should be in customs at the moment and should be in the channel by the end of the month. I can't say what they will cost (sworn to secrecy and all that) but if Vodacom are selling their cards for R2499, then expect to pay SUBSTANTIALLY less than that for the MTN card.

My local MTN shop says they will sell for about R4000 cash when they become available. But I do not normally trust their knowledge of their own products.

ouch, mtn is my final attempt at getting semi-decent internet at my house. If this fails im leaving for Australia, just like the other white males that are gatvol!

Well u can even buy the vodacom HSDPA card cash and use the mtn sim in there, picks up the card , and the network works wonders as well, so you can either buy the vvodacom HSDPA card round R2500 or the Sierra wireless 850 ( price unknown to me) but work on the mtn network..

I see Vodacom is giving free HSDPA cards to any current 3G data card user.
They're swapping 50 000 3G cards out FOR FREE! :)

That's what I did, and now I'm enjoying a 512 unlimited connection for $50 (R240) with no bull**** from Telkom.

(No EDGE here, 3G in capital cities, from about 4 providers now).

:P

Any work there for developers? What do you do?

What kind of developer? software?

There are many jobs in the cities (check some at seek.com.au)

I'm still a student, my parents migrated here 5 years ago, haven't looked back since.

Went to the service centre, was told that the cards will probably only be here in May.

Try getting a unlocked HSDPA card from Vodacom at R2699.00.
