So the HP Office Jet 6213 MFP is starting to pack up - cartridge jams, cartridge "access door not closed" and takes more than 1 paper at times.

Not worried about faxing but scanning, printing and copying is a priority.

What would you guys recommend?

Budget is R2000. Could go a bit more, depending on the price of replacement cartridges.

HP Printers should last a lifetime , my printer has been running for the last 12 years and print over a box (2500sheets per month) , but service it on regular intervals by blowing out all the microscopic paper dust with a high pressure blower that we have in our technical department ,

Take your printer and turn it upside down and tap it and you will see the amount of paper dust that comes out. These get into the micro switches and sensors and start causing issues like you describing.

Also from time to time take you cartridges out and give them a wash by taking a saucer with hot water and lightly touch the Nozzles until you see the ink running do this for about 25-30 seconds and then clean this with a soft tissue or cloth , recalibrate your cartridges, you will notice ink clots in the saucer that cause Cartridge failures.

Thanks for the tips; I think my printer really needs a good cleanup.

I would agree with GMAN03 on the Lexmark Pro range of printers. They work well, with ultra low printing costs due to the 105XL cartridges being available for R30-R50.
