I'll readily admit that default avatars should be hidden as with the old forum. And more user info next to each post would be handy, also like the previous forum. Fortunately both would be easy to implement. But otherwise what's the problem?

Agreed, hopefully those changes are done soon, now that the forum is running properly.

The complication might be how to handle avatars on the New Posts page. Hiding default or all avatars isn't an option if users are to know which threads they've participated in. Leaving default avatars on there but hidden in threads could confuse users.

Personally, I would replace all default avatars with one that looks like a thread icon (assuming it's possible) and hide them inside threads. That would clean up the New Posts page and provide a consistent avatar-less experience for those users. The online indicator would need modifying too for users without avatars.

I don’t know, but it’s possible an adblocker being too over enthusiastic could be to blame.

Some threads from my watchlist take me to the first page instead of new posts but when I go to the last page there are posts marked as new.

How come you want to hide avatars? They show at a glance who's posted.
