New Neotel Prime observation

Hi guys, I have just a few days ago got connected with the Prime Uncapped package. After placing the phone at every angle and postion I have finally found a place where I can get above 160K per sec.

Ive noticed that the connection drops alot, BUT the biggest observation I have made is that for some reason when downloading continiously, when I reach 2 gig the connection cuts and drops off. It has happened now 5 times with me so far. Everytime...around 2 gig downloaded.

Do you think this could def be a neotel way of limiting the Prime Uncapped package? Is there a way to stop it dropping the connections or a way to test if it IS in fact Neotel doing a forced reset or connection break?

All theories welcome.

Hi Style, In whic area do you stay as I also wanted to get the Neotel Prime.

As for the dropping of the connection - Please elaborate further, what are you downloading, from where, download client, etc. :)

But off hand I would probably say that wouldn't be a very effective way of limiting as if the user is using a DL Client to DL they would just reconnect and continue downloadng at with no loss of data, etc.

Hi Blaze, Im in Bedfordview. I was just out of range for the Prime until 1 week ago.

Im using newsleecher and giganews. It seems that whenever I reach 2 gig the connection just cuts out. Tho I can reconnect right away afterwards without a problem. But this sux cause I go away from m the house alot and want to leave my downloads on for large files but cant figure out what to do to keep it alive. Or if I should get hold of Neotel and what I address them about..

get DAP (download Accelerator Pro) or use torrents..thats at least a workaround.
 
that's quite irritating.

That's my fear with wireless. You're never sure what speed you'll get.

The connection drops yes, but random ones, not at a particular traffic threshold.

On 1.5 gig in this session so will see if it disconnects when I hit 2 gig again in a little while. Average of 160Kpbs seems to be pretty stable.
 
I found that when I use Neotel connection manager, the connection is not automatically re-dialed when dropped. If I change the dial up properties, then next time I use Neotel's connection manager, it creates a new dial up connection automatically and still does not redial if dropped. I got around this by manually creating my own dial up connection in windows and only using that one as my default dial up connection (i.e. don't use Neoconnect manager). I now have no problem with large downloads (approx. 7 GB) from news servers at a time. Whenever the line drops, it re-connects automatically and I'm back in the game :)
 
Thank you master orion! now thats what I needed to hear! fantastic. will give it a try.

I can confirm this now. 4 sessions today...all 4 sessions got cut off at 2gig down and 400mb up. Hmm crazy.

Will give your method a go and give some feedback.
 
Hey Guys, just to confirm that Orions advice was spot on! Now I can get down to business without connection drops. Key thing...dont use the neotel manager...mama says its the devil.
