Amid reports of phishing attacks on bank accounts, a Cape Town man says he had to threaten bank staff with a criminal charge to recover R24 500 he lost to a different kind of Internet scam.

My friends mom, who has never used internet banking in her life, had her internet banking account enabled, and her whole salary transfered out. The last I heard, the cops were investigating corrupt tellers at her Standard Bank branch. So yeah, lots of fraud doing the rounds...

Funny thing is (and lucky for her) is that her husband is one of the IT bigshots with FNB!
