Anyone got a comparison on what the previous speeds were compared to the new ones?

I had 10/5 - R597
New speed 15/15 - R667

Now I'm confused. Coz the email I got says R667 ... Checked now and the website says otherwise. And the speed on the website says 10/10 not 15/15

Everything is a mess right now. I don't know what I will be paying. Email says one thing website says another with completely different speeds lol. @AfriNatic what's going on ?

If that is going to be the new 100/100 price of R1317 pm then, sadly, I will be changing providers as it is completely uncompetitive.

I think they have not updated it properly. they just simply removed the asymmetrical speeds from the website. Im sure it would be lower

Here's the email I got showing the old and new speed + price

Hi @AfriNatic and all. Any updates to what Afrihosts Octotel prices would be?
I see Cool ideas prices are pretty good FB_IMG_1596308977984.jpg

Oki cool. Any idea when the prices will reflect on the website?
The price you will be paying is the correct price in the email. We are absorbing the increase for existing clients.

Right now the line speeds have not increased so advertising 15/15 would be misleading to new clients so we advertise what is available to clients right now. The speeds will be updated once Octotel makes them available for order or migrated lines to the new speeds.

The speed you will be paying for and getting will be the lowest in the market if you decide to stay and that is definitely something we want.

Wow that makes sense! never thought of the false advertising thing. yeah if it beats cool ideas in their 30/30 (which is why i am pressing for the prices lol) then i probably am staying, i'll probably stay coz the 15/15 is cheaper, convenience and my pre-order is in already.

Thanks for the info above. I haven't seen any info _from Afrihost directly_ about line speed or price changes. That is why I've come here, having searched online.
I had 10/5 Pure fibre for R597, now I just got a bill for R667 (invoice mentions 10, 10 and 10/5) but if I look at the Afrihost App is says I'm on 15/15. What is odd, is that on the latest Fibre Octotel price page, it now says 15/15 is R767.

While I enjoy the speed increase, and am ok to pay more for it, I just would have liked to know upfront that this was going to happen so I can budget. If it goes up too much, I'd probably need to change provider.
There is no help, blog, email nor marketing post about the change still online that I know of.

I actually saw an RsaWeb and Atomic access post about Octotel upgrade and what it would mean, but nothing from Afrihost.
Chatting with Afri WhatsApp support, the agent said they thought they may have sent something in the past. I didn't get it and it seems others didn't either.

I got an email and i attached it above. maybe check your spam folder? still then, maybe they have missed you on the mailing list. I wish by now Afrihost would update their prices as I would really like to know the price of their 30/30. Website has the reflected speeds, but those prices are just ridiculous. the emails have the proper pricing I am guessing. but jeez, Afrihost takes long to update their website and that.

We sent out communication about the speeds upgrades in the very beginning of August. We are giving existing clients on the 10/5 a discounted price on the new 15/15 line. This discounted price is very competitive. :)
