New or used camera body

Hi peeps,

So my trusty old Nikon D70 is finally on it's last legs.
I'm looking at purchasing the D5300, but I'm torn between saving a few bob and getting a used body, or purchasing a new body.

What are your opinions?
Also recommended stores if any?
 
2nd hand is 100% fine. As per all things, do some research on what to look out for, but since it's just a D5300 I wouldn't worry too much about it.
 
Depends on who you're buying from. You wouldn't want to buy a second hand camera from the likes of me because by the time I'm done with a body, it's done too.

Nikon has a demo one for almost 8K. But theres a trader on BidOrBuy selling used ones for less than 6k, so I may try them.
 
Bought a second hand Nikon body about a month ago from the classifieds section on
Outdoorphoto.
Went to view it in person took some shots etc.
happy with my decision and with the thousands saved, it helped buy a new lens.

Doesn't ORMs have a decent secondhand "department"?
 
Check the nikon sales group on facebook, there was a D5500 for 8k , Think the shutter actuations was under 7000

I've checked Studio22 ORMS and OutDoorphoto sites.
 
So I got my D5300 off a BidOrBuy shop, R5600 used but in perfect condition. Now I'm a happy chappy.
