Here is how my new P.C is shaping up.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Gigabyte Intel GA-965P-S3 Motherboard
1GB Patriot Signature Line Memory - DDR2-800MHz
XFX GeForce 7900GT
Aopen 400watt P.S.U

Do you see any problems I might encounter with this set up. Especially the P.S.U

Please note I'm not interested in DX10 because I'm sick of waiting for 8600 cards plus I wont be upgrading to Vista for at least a year still. I've got plenty of games to catch up on anyway

Hey :)

You might need a gig more RAM. That Core2Duo needs more RAM to work at optimized speeds.

The PSU is small. I would suggest a 500Watt or more.

I have a 7900GT as well. VERY good choice! :D

8800gtx 320 meg version will set you back a mere 3.4k

do not buy a 7900gt you will regret it

how much is the 7900gt
 
yea the 320 meg version is not overly priced

or you can buy my 7900gs for 950 if you like in the mean time *g*

One more gig of RAM will do that PC wonders. Definately get at least a 500W PSU, and the XFX 8800GTS 320MB version is only R1100 more than the XFX 7900GT.
 
I will never in my life pay R3450 for a graphics card. I agree with marine1, that's the only stuff you should get extra

naaa in one of the other threads he said that e6600 was 2300 and the fx 62 was 2999

but even on newegg the price difference is huge

scart cant your contacts in canada buy me a 8800gts and post it?

Okay I've had a look around and might take the plunge and go for this setup.

ASUS Geforce 8800GTS 320MB
Aopen 500watt P.S.U

I'm not so sure about the 320mb on the 8800GTS. I'm worried about future games and whether 320mb is enough. Also will I get much of an improvement over a 7900GT on this system due to any bottlenecks.
