New P.C

Like others have said, the GTS won't crack a sweat playing games at full detail at anything lower than 1920x1200. Only higher resolutions like 2560x1600 the GTX starts to show it's better so the GTS should have no problems at all with games in the next few years...plus it's a DX10 card.

i think the 7900gt is a ford fiesta st and the 8800gts 320 is a ferrari

is there a big performance difference

fuq yeah

killadoob you sure you typed newegg not neweggs or whatever?
Right now it's R2,312 at the current R7.4 exchange rate. Making it just over R2,300 at mWave its still under R2,300. Now wherer's this Huge price difference you're talking about?

FX-62 is R3,034 currently...
==================================

That rig looks sweet. With that E6400 clocked at 2.9/3GHZ you should have a very speedy rig to last you well into 2009 :)

alan are you freaking crazy man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do not buy a 7900gt

do not do it

8800gtx 320 meg version will set you back a mere 3.4k

do not buy a 7900gt you will regret it

how much is the 7900gt
I agree don't go for 7900gt u will regret it rather go for the 7900gs it is cheaper and better. But if u have the money for a 8800gtx 320 rather go for that.

7900gs is cheaper yes, better performance no.

and its the 8800gts 320mb

If you can't afford 320MB GTS then don't buy anything. Rather save up some more, but to buy a GF7 right now is the worst thing you could do.
For one don't expect any performance improvements in games because all you'll be getting now is compatibility updates in drivers and nothing else.

Sad but true, when yours is not the latest nVidia quietly shafts you to the side and moves on.

I just did a power calculator test at http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine:

The specs with the 7900GT came to 262watts

The specs with the 8800GTS came to 337watts

Either this site is wrong or why would I need a 500 watt P.S.U?

I have also been wondering why so many people have been suggesting such a powerful power supply. I realise the days of 250W nmay be over but why would you need a 500W PSU?

well i had a 400w power supply connect my 8800gts 320 meg my pc did not boot

went and a bought a 900 antec 500w power supply and all is good

Yup, had a mate with the same problem. Those new GPUs need lots of juice.
