Ok I want to buy a cheap pc that I can take to LANs. My monster pc will stay at home. So don't need a big one.

got about R5000 to R6000 so keep it as low as possible

O one more thing I can buy the parts from pinnacle micro just need some suggestions on what parts are good and cheap.

This is what I came up with

MSI P43 neo

MSI GTS250 512MB

E7400 CPU

4GB Apacer 1066MHz Memory

2x Seagate 250GB (one for O/S other one for games)

this all adds up to R4916

All I need is a PSU and a case I think. Not going to get a DVD rom.

Ok here's the deal. Can I maybe save on something like the CPU, etc to make it more affordable. The GTS250 is R1534.44 and the 4850 is R1436
 
Whats the specs on your "monster" machine?
 
My specs are

Q9450 @ 3.2GHz
MSI GTX280 1GB
4GB Apacer 800Mhz RAM
3TB HDD Space
Cooler Master CM690 Case
650 Corsair PSU

So the deal is I'm looking for something smaller to take to LANs so that I don't have to carry that beast of a machine.
 
Ok forgive my ignorance, but surely it’s not THAT bad to carry? :confused:

A new machine probably won't weigh that much less? :rolleyes:

I agree, once you have put in the PSU and a half-decent case, the "LAN" machine would not weigh much less than the "monster" machine.

Why don't you look at just a new case for your "monster" machine that is maybe a little lighter and has handles & wheels?

Unless there are other reasons for wanting a second machine...

Msi P43 neo is a great board

I would recommend the branded 1066 ram if you gonna oc a little..
I hard drive will be lighter

ok no. you all misunderstand me. I'm gonna let this pc stand there @ home then when I want to go to lans just pick up the system and go.

Can Also use it as Media server @ home.

ok thought of getting a E6300 CPU instead of the E7200

It all goes into buget. I have to save as much budget as possible without losing to much performance. The thing is I want a PC to go and LAN and a pc to play games at way better frames on my system @ home.
 
Why not get the HD4850 1GB from prophecy.co.za its on special for R1365.75

Cause it's a Force3d and I don't like them. I will only take MSI, Saphire or Asus. with geforce cards I will only take XFX, MSI, Asus,

Ok what I meant by this system. Is it better to go for Geforce GTS 250 512MB than the Radeon 4850 1GB. How good is the 4770 compare to the 4850 as the 4770 is cheaper.

If I get a 4770 I will be able to get a cheaper PSU that will save me some more money. What case should I go for that is rather cheap. Thinking of getting this case http://www.comx.co.za/computer-cases.php?brand=156&cat=217. also will get some 120mm fans to fill the case

But I want to get best performance for my money and reliable pc as well. I don't care if I can get stuff cheaper elswere (exept for case, PSU, maybe the mobo). I'm not going to do much on this pc just when I go to lans I'm going to use it.

O forgot to tell is it better to go for cheaper CPU like the normal Dual core (E5200, E5300) or will It slow my system down. every little that I save will help. Save 100 here 100 there and as soon as that I can save like R500+.

Why? The cards are all the same with different stickers on and slightly different warranties....
