Hi Guys
I am a newbie so really need advice. Our church needs to upgrade its office pc. Only used for general office use. I received a quote for the following:
i3 3.30 GHZ 3220 CPU(socket 1155)
4 GIG RAM
500GB HDD
DVDRW
NEW TOWER
450WATT PSU
NO OS
12 MONTHS WARRANTY
BIOSTAR MOTHERBOARD H61ML
Price = R2800

Alternatively, I can get a quad core pc with 8gb ram and 1tb drive for the same price.

Which one would be a better bet to go with?
Thanks

well, if the quad core has all the other bells and whistles as the i3 machine then take the quadie.

Need more details to compare, otherwise the quote for R2800 is pretty good, If I had to build that myself it would come to about R3655.00

No OS ? For the church ? Now that would just be wrong ....Gonna run Linux ? Those poor tannies gonna make the techie mal
Or would you just install *gasp* a cracked copy :P

Ok well , all banter apart , looks like a good deal . Dont see what the church will be doing with 8gb ram but the 1tb will eventually come in handy I guess

Why would you consider avoiding 8gb memory and quadcore if the price is the same? It makes no sense to pay the same money for slower parts so go for the 8gb ram and the quadcore but i don't get how both can be the same price.

Ponder loves linux and it is a good idea but does anyone there have knowledge of linux? Are there printers? Will you be streaming stuff from the pc onto a projector or anything like that? Linux is a good option but if the people know windows and basically work on it then perhaps install windows. O wait ponder is not actually trying to help here. Ponder dude, common man this isn't the section for what you are doing. I don't want to argue or fight and maybe you were trying to help.

Listen to ponder though if you go linux ponder if something isn;t working like a scanner or printer, what do you do ponder? figure out why and how to get it going right but would an average windows user be able to?

Unless it's a socket 775 quad core CPU, then I would personally choose the i3 over it.
