New Pc <again>

So why don't you show him these forums where he can see that PCInt have an extremely good reputation?

Also why not find out if they have a shop you can go and fetch the parts from?

Henry, did you even READ the original post? And anyone who's even remotely considered as an enthusiast, will never buy a pre-built system, ESPECIALLY from IC, unless it's an Alienware jobbie or something similar. Good heavens.

Go to pcint.co.za and find the phone number. Look at the online pricelist and decide on what you want. Then phone them and make the order and you can go pick it up at their offices, which are either in Jhb or Pretoria I think. (Prob Jhb)

But doesn't want to buy online?:rolleyes:

There are these amazing things called PROPER stores, that actually sell components to you. Crazy, I know.

I am saying that it is odd and rare for the type of person who wants to build his/her own PC not to want to buy online where the hardware is cheaper.

You have any actual advice to give her here?

I never buy my hardware online and I've never bought a prebuilt pc either. I buy my hardware at stores with a 10% markup, if not 0% from the supplier prices.
As for me having any actual advice, yes, don't buy anything at IC, especially a prebuilt system, which you seemed to not notice being a requirement.

You call that advice? Do you perchance have the name of one of these wonderful brick and mortar stores that sell the components of which you speak or are you happier attacking my misunderstanding of the situation til you are blue in the face?

Yes, House of Computers. Good service and good prices. Not in JHB, however.

I see. Well that is not much help then :o

As I am also not in Joburg, I cannot help much with suggestions either.

If you buy components from IC you might not find them to be so badly priced. Specially from Thursday onwards when they have another Incredible Sale.

Believe me I hate the place, but they do have some great deals if you look hard enough.
