Just wanted to get some opinions on my choices for a new system, I have a budget of 8K to 9K with OS. The system will be used for gaming as well as general MS office stuff, what do you think ? :erm:

P8H61 PRO
Asus Motherboards; Intel LGA1155. R 1 115

Help appreciated ;)

I would drop the 60gb ssd, windows plus 1 games and few apps and you have no space. Annoying as hell. Games these days are 10-18gb, my windows install is 32gb, granted that includes 10gb of emails. Still 60gb is going to cause you issues because you will keep having to uninstall this to install that and so on. Not fun.

Either get a 120gb/96(minimum) or save until you can afford one. The 120gb's are only 2.2-5k so add in another 1k and get a bigger ssd. Looks good otherwise. Pada will let you know if that mobo is no good.

2.2k for 120gb ssd http://www.wootware.co.za/adata-120gb-s511-series-sata-iii-2-5-ssd-internal-solid-state-drive.html

hang on till next week, those prices seem a tad bit high. Who quoted you?

You could still get the 60GB SSD with a normal 500GB hard drive. (or less) Also drop the OS

Well tnx for all the input anyway, I might upgrade the P8H61 to a P8H67-V all-in-one, extra R400 but a better chipset. Btw could/should I hold out till early next year for a price drop ?

I don't see the need for the better chipset as much, and definitely not for and HDMI port as you have a graphics card that does all of that, but if you are willing to pay for it then do.

Regarding if you could/should wait, as time goes on tech becomes outdated, new ones gets released and prices drop. The Rand/Dollar exchange is also a big factor, but in general prices should come down by a bit.

The main answer would be looking at your current computer's specs though. What does that consist of?

Not a bad build, few issues:

1. 60GB SSD is fine if you feel it is enough space, of course 60GB may not be enough for others.

2. H61 is entry level chip set mobo, don't think it allows for overclocking. Not sure why a Pro version (most expensive of the H61's with extra features often not needed) would be needed over a V/Evo version (cheaper). If you want to OC at minimum you will want a P67 based mobo (Asus P8P67 is good) with a...

3. i5 2500k CPU (unlocked clock multiplier for easy OCing).

4. Antec HCG (High Current Gamer) 520watt is a better PSU for slightly cheaper.

Everything else looks good.
