New PC Build i5

you can drop down to a ud3 mobo and get a better gpu 6870, 560.. but you want a 6950 :p

Where you ordering from? If not an online shop, why not?

From rectron. What store would u recommend nakedpeanut. Also the reason I am getting ud4 board is because it does Dolby sound output via optical. Or is it just overkill?

Rectron = fail. You can get cheaper prices from dealers/online shops with mark-up.

GX650 PSU is overkill, rather get the GX550 or better yet the Corsair TX620 (a much better PSU) or even the Corsair CX500!

yip b3 revision.

The reason for the coolermaster is availability from wootware. The cosair is out of stock.

Also is there a online shop based in durban?

I just bought my new system from Prophecy ...... a tad more here and there (and a tad less here and there too).
My fave online store .... most trusted too.

ok phone them again and ask them to check with their suppliers.

and only reason why i would prefer to buy from rectron is that they are in durban as I live here.

woot is in cape town so if anything goes wrong i gotta courier it back there.

so once again any online shops based in durban with competitive pricing like rebeltech / wootware?

also postmanpot in your signature it say pm for cheap computers can you consider my last build post a pm and quote me?

Keep in mind, he is also located in CPT. ;)

Cheaper than Woot and personalised service, I believe. :)

But yeah, I do recommend buying as local as possible as I have the customer's future in mind in terms of possible swap-outs. Fail-safe and small goods (like CPUs and RAM) are normally fine to ship, IMO - low chance of dying.

thank you for the quote postmanpot. i will list my new build with per component price and from where and let u guys know

What do u guys think?

In a nutshell, MSI simply isn't regarded as highly as Asus and Gigabyte.

With Asus and Gigabyte, you get quality as well as, perhaps most importantly, the best after-sales service/warranty. I like Asus especially because you can contact them directly as they are based in Jo'burg.

I recommend either of these:

±R1250 Asus P8H67 LGA1155 mb with EFi mouse-controlled bios ; intel H67-B3 , 4x dual channel DDR3-1333 , 6x s-ata with raid 0/1//0+1/5/10 ( 2x SATA6G + 4x SATA3G ) , 1x parallel ATA133 , on-board ALC887 7.1 audio with optical S/Pdif out + gigabit lan ; 3x pci , 2 x pci-e(1x) , 2 x pci-e 2.0 (16x/16x+4x) for Quad-GPU CrossFireX ( no SLi ) , with 2x USB3.0 + 6x USB2.0 , support optional serial port add-on cable , with EPU + anti-surge protection , 2x PS2 - atx

±R1725 Asus P8P67 LGA1155 mb with EFi mouse-controlled bios , Dual Intelligent Processors 2 with DIGI+ VRM ; intel P67-B3 , 4x dual channel DDR3-2200(O.C)/1600 , 9x s-ata with raid 0/1//0+1/5/10 ( 4x SATA6G + 4x SATA3G + 1x eSATA ) , on-board ALC892 7.1 audio with optical S/Pdif out + gigabit lan + bluetooth + ieee1394a ; 3x pci , 2 x pci-e(1x) , 2 x pci-e 2.0 (16x/16x+4x) for Quad-GPU CrossFireX ( no SLi ) , with 2x USB3.0 + 8x USB2.0 , with EPU + TPU + DiGi+ VRM , 2x PS2 , support optional serial port add-on cable , with EPU + TPU + DiGi+ VRM - 12+2 phase power design , 2x PS2 - atx

Not saying there's anything wrong with MSI, but more enthusiasts would recommend Asus or Gigabyte over them.

Asus P8P67 LGA1155 Intel P67 B3 Revision ATX Discrete Desktop Motherboard - Retail 1,748.00
or
Asus P8P67 Pro LGA1155 Intel P67 B3 Revision ATX Discrete Desktop Motherboard - Retail 2052

The reason why i went msi is that i want the best onboard sound out via optical.
It says that is has lossless audio.

does those asus have the bluray quality audio?

ps. its getting connected to my z5500 via optical
