Completely depends on your budget? Will you be OCing? Will you mainly be gaming or just want an overall gaming and computer PC?
And why Vista specifically...just because it runs DX10 games?

I'm prepared to pay 'bout R8000 for the pc.
I just want to know whats the best specs for a proper game pc. So far I have an 8600GTS in my mind.

I hope you haven't bought one? Thing is you will battle to run any current games at decent detail and framerates with that card. I would rather look into getting a ATI 3850 which outperforms that card considerably. If you can spend a bit more on graphics card then a 8800GT is your best bet.

What res does your screen run at?
Will you be buying a screen, mouse, keyboard etc or do you have those already?

Ouch if you got the 8600GTS. :(

Maybe you can still take it back and get a trade in or something. :o

carderne gave pretty good specs, but you can probably afford something a bit better with R8000, depends if you need the full PC with monitor etc.

if you bought the 8600gts your going to feel sick

that 3850 is a monster considering the price, as ekhaat says it crushes the 8600 series badly
