Finally building a new PC after about 4 years (still stuck on AMD64 3200+).
Please have a look at the specs below. It allready maxes out my budget so can't really add much, but if there is a different/better component of similar price (Core2 Quad 8400 is about the same price). I would really like some suggestions. Also, will the PSU be enough for the system?

AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 2.80GHz
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P Motherboard
Corsair 4GB DDR3 XMS3 PC2-1600C9DHX TwinX (2x2GB) Bundle.
Samsung P2370 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor (LS23EFHKFV/EN)
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 Dark Knight 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3200 Laser (967688-0120)
Sony BDU-X10S Blu-Ray Reader Serial-ATA Drive - Retail
Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black (No PSU)
Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (51MZ0310AA001)
Everglide Titan MiniMat Gaming Surface

Also, the CPU comes overclocked to 3.5Ghz straight out of the box, how would that affect the longevity of the system?

Will 4GB ram be enough? The PC will mostly be used for movies/gaming/internet. Trying to get back into PC gaming after doing the Xbox thing for the last couple of years.

Any comments appreciated.

The CPU should have an "overclocking" heatsink if its running at 3.5Ghz 24/7
I would rather get the Samsung 2333sw or the 2494HS LCDs. The go for R2000 - R2500.
I would also rather go for a Intel setup, P43, P45 motherboard and a Q8400.

Im not to sure about the power supply, maybe a 600 or 650watt generic would be better.

You can get 4890's for the same price as 4870's at a few places.

+1 for the 2333sw

Get a third party cooler for the cpu, at least a Hyper TX2 or AC Freezer 7 Pro, they're cheap and effective. OC it to 3.6Ghz.

Great build. I wouldn't change anything.

Your power supply will be fine.

Well if you want to view bluray disks, i.e bought or rented ones, then it is not that a bad buy. Its only around R1500.

Only!? Such a greater variety of titles on DVD, and by the time there is a decent variety on BR, the dives will cost 1/3 of that ridiculous price..

quality over quantity :p

Well if you have the money and feel comfortable paying for something at an over-inflated price then fine, but otherwise DVD still has a MASSIVEly greater variety of titles. Nobody's arguing it isn't better quality, but you can't just look at something from one aspect. Well you can, it's just retarded..

I dont know why people dont flinch when a person spends R6000 on a graphics card, but when they spend R1500 on a bluray drive all hell is let loose.

I think its a good buy. Take full advantage of your Full HD screen! If your worried about the cost of Bluray disks, you can always order them from amazon at decent prices. I do however do not think the bluray writer is viable, with the cost of blank disks.

I am seeing more and more dvd rental stores adding bluray disks to their collections. I think this is the year when it does become sense.

Just our opinion mate, nobody's got a gun to anyone's head. Isn't that the whole reason people post here? I wasn't under the misapprehension that we were mandated to merely back-slap people on their choice. You do that and we'll give our opinions and we can all live together happily. How about that?

Point is that by the time there is a decent variety available on a widespread basis, the drives will be dirt cheap. That's all I'm saying. I'm not going to call him names if he doesn't do what i want! Grrrr..

I dont think they are going to be dirt cheap anytime soon. Maybe next year. They might drop to around R800 or so. If you got the money go for it :) Watching planet earth on bluray is amaaazing.
