Hey guys.

Im looking for some help regarding buying a new pc. i was going to do a complete upgrade using these specs :

Mobo - BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 R 1500
Processor -Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 - R 1550
Ram - 2gigs Corsair DDR2 800 R 600
Graphics Card Club3d 4850 1gig R 1350
(and the also find a new screen)

I already have a case that i can use and HDD's etc, but them some 1 sent me a link to this site :http://www.pcint.co.za/pcs.php

If you have a look at the pre built PC called PERFORMER PC, it seems very good for the price. The only fault i can find with it is the 3d card.
I want to spend around 5k on a computer, and it will pretty much be for gaming. COD4, COD 6 etc...

I cannot see any fault with that machine really besides the 3d card, which i if i sell my pc now, i can just upgrade it.
There usually seems to be some sort of catch involving pre built pc's, but as i say this looks very decent for the price.

can you guys please give some feedback as to what you think about it, if its a good deal etc etc. It will be much apprieciated:)

For +-R2800 i got a really nice asus board and an AMD 955 Black Edition which I've overclocked to 3.8ghz. For gaming it's i7 class performance and combined with my Gtx 260 I've not encountered a single game I couldn't play silky smooth at 1920 x 1080(except crysis - but crysis plays perfectly at 1280 x 720).

I bought from www.Crowntech.co.za

Do you already have a motherboard? If not dont go 775. Rather go AM3 or i5.

+1. If it's purely a gaming machine Phenom2 gives the biggest bang for your buck.

I do have a mother board yes. the problem is it is insanely old. the pc that i am running now is pretty much of no use. its and old pentium 4, 1.8 with and fx5200, the mother board is not worth using. it doesnt even have pci slots.

That is why i pretty much need a whole new computer. All that i can use in this machine really is my HDD's, case, speakers and power supply.

So as u can see i need whole new machine. And it would also be nice to have a new screen because at the moment im still using an old 17" crt monitor.

The budget that i was working on was around R5000. And as i say, i came across the pre built computer and it pretty much fits right in with my budget. It would be awsome if some 1 could take a look at it and tell me what they think.

If it is not going to be worth buying the pre built machine, then i will have to go back to the drawing board and start building a PC piece by piece.

Here is the link to the Website again :http://www.pcint.co.za/pcs.php
As i say, the computer that i am talking about is the *PERFORMER PC*

If you are mostly gaming then go the AMD route as suggested here. Get a cpu, MB, 4GB ram and decent gpu ;)

I'm sure the guys here will help you knock together a good system.

I'd seriously recommend a new power supply rather and new hard drive too.

I'm not at a pc now so will post a recommended build later today. I'd also strongly recommend you push your budget to 6grand if you need a monitor too.

Thanks for the help so far guys

This is what im looking at at the moment :

Intel Core2 Quad 2.6Ghz Q8400 CPU
4GB DDR2 RAM
500GB SATA II-7200RPM HDD
Foxconn 1333FSB MB
Coolermaster Elite Case + PSU
DVD Writer +_ ( 22x) Dual Layer (8.5GB)
Onboard sound with speakers
256MB ATI 3450 VGA Card
19" LG Wide LCD Monitor
Gbe Lan
Keyboard & Logitech Mouse

The price of all of this comes to R 5300 INC. VAT

Im not a computer whizz, but that seems good for the price to me :D

That's decent but the graphics card sucks. Maybe wait a little while the brand new Core i3 chips are pretty awesome. You want at least a 4850 on graphics.

Rather buy your own components and upgrade your PC. Also get a 23" screen, it's totally worth it! PCInt have a Samsung 23" for R1700 it's great.

Seems your set on the PC from PCINT.
Clearly you do not want to wait for the I3 to come out as your in a hurry by bumping your post.
You want info on this specific one

I think the PC is fine for what you want to use it for.
Perhaps Replace the Card with one of these...
HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E DUAL DVI-I / TVO - Asus R 1,366 incl. ( Pcint )
http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/4800-series-4850-series-c-22_23_123_378_587.html

Try sell your old Pc for R 800 bucks or ask PC int if they can swap out the card for a better one maybe?

The whole package seems to be a very good price...

I suppose i am kinda set on this pc. it would make life easier to just buy a brand new machine like that instead of taking things apart and making sure all parts are comapatable with eachother etc etc.

So looking at the computer, which GFX card would u guys advise i get ?
Can probably spend about R1300-R1500 on another one.

Ok then. looks like i will be taking that computer. Im going to sell my current pc to help pay for the new 3d card.
Its got :
19" CRT philips moniter
Fx5200 3d card
Case
450 psu
1x dvd/cd writer
1cd rom
250 gig HDD
onboard sound
Keyboard and mouse
1 gig ram
Pentium 4, 1.8

I will probably sell it to my maid or some 1 that i work with on a low budget or something like that.
What do you think is a fair price to sell this pc at?
I was thinking about R800 ? Maybe that is to expensive. I really dnt know.

Thanks
