Ok, so I'm thinking about replacing my old Reliable HTC Wildfire S. It's a good device and all, but it doesn't suite my needs anymore. So here is my question, what's the best device to get right now? I was looking at devices, and I almost lost my mind.

I looked at getting a Nexus 5, but it isn't worth while. Importing it will take too long, plus I'm scared about warrantee issues. I'd also not mind going contract. Next up is the Galaxy S4. Sadly I see no point. I like my screens big, and epic. Thus I was looking at the Note 3. The Note 3 looks like a good option, and I see nothing wrong with it. Now enter Sony. This is just silly now.

I was looking at the Lumia 1520, and 1020 as well, but I'm not too sure if it's a good idea, considering Microsoft isn't clear about their future plans for these devices.

What do you suggest? So far I's a Note 3, but the Sony offerings just look so good as well. Should I wait till next year?

Basically the phone will act as my tablet, when I'm out on the road, or not in the mood to tag along a tablet. I won't play games on it (Ok, only angry birds). Mostly emails, Text, Phone calls, Photo's, Videos, Google Now, Maps, and a bit of Video calling (Skype).

Sony Zperia Z1 would be my recommendation by far.

What does it matter if M$ isn't clear about the future of their phones? I swapped my Android for a Lumia about a month ago and no complaints. In fact, next time I upgrade/change phones I'll probably pick a Windows Phone again - it just feels so solid (OS included)

/semi-fanboyism

A big reason I swapped was because there were no Androids out there that excited me really. I looked at the S4 mini and even the P6 but ... meh.

EDIT: regardless of your choice get something with decent battery life. You have no idea how liberating it is to only need to charge my phone once every two days :)

Note 3

Get the Snapdragon version of it though, gets way more support custom wise than the non-lte version.

The nice thing is once you've had it for a few years, you wont easily get bored with it because you can just load up a custom rom on it.

Also the stylus is great if you need to make quick notes on the go .

The issue is the Note 3 has no Gorilla glass. Considering I'll act like a Gorilla with a Note 3, I need that. The Lumia looks good, but what if I get sick of the OEM? I need a custom ROM if I don't get upgrades. the iPhone just sucks. Just too basic, and limiting.

It's not like Android with every vendor "raping" it with their custom ****. If an update becomes available you get it.

Well, you can always get a custom ROM, and load it without any issues. On a Lumia, you can't.

what about the new LG flagship?

I have an S4, and it is amazing, but then again it is mine, and I have put in many hours to make it awesome, many many hours.

if however I had to choose now it would be tough, the G2, S4 LTE, Note 3, Nexus 5 (if you can) Xperia Z1. all of those are the leaders of the pack, yes the S2 LTE is the lowest of them, but it will still get you there.

it is going to come down to what you want. and what you will do with it, as far as tablets on the move go, I have not picked up my 10.1 in more than a month, my phone now does everything, and what I cant do on my phone I have to do on my laptop because sometimes you just need 2 screens....

factors to consider:
Feel of the phone in hand
customizability of the phone, I mean why bother if its going to look, sound and act the same as all the other (insert phone model name here) around

good luck making the choice :)

If the Galaxy Note 3 really does not have Gorilla Glass, then it probably has an equivalent glass from another vendor, so it should be fine, it would be stupid of Samsung to put an inferior glass on their flagship.
