Has anyone noticed the new pricing structures on Sentech's website? More importantly have any of you noticed that they are now offering a 12 month contract?

Regards

Yep kinda posted it on friday when i foned them to find out if my area has been connected. quite nice that they offer it finally but just a thought if you go for the 12 month contract do you have to buy the modem beforehand?

Proud South african rip offs.

Yip seems to be the case. If you buy your own modem you can opt for a 12 month. The 128k option is R549/month!

Thats more like it. Although I would prefer there was no contract at all. But 12 months is a heck of a lot better than 24 months. Anyone know pricing on modems though? If it's been covered before on the board, can someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Hmmmmm

24 month including modem = 34776
24 month excluding modem = 32376 + 3500 = 35876
12 month excluding modem = 17148 (34296 over 2 years) + 3500 = 20648 (37796 over 2 years)

Yea, I'm so glad I held out for a "pay upfront for the modem" and 12 month contract *rolls his eyes*

Over the 24 month period, compared to their pricing, I only pay R2400 for my modem, no upfront costs AND its cheaper in the long run.

WTF?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Check my posting out, i want to know what you guys think

noone, afaik the bundled modem stays the property of sentech. So using the initial 24 month window, it's probably cheaper to go bundled. However, after 2 years you keep on paying (renting)
the modem. If they change to a "rent to own" option, it might be a different scenario. I opted for the unbundled version, not to save $$, but I just wasn't in the mood for the sentech "paper trail", and I wanted connectivity *now*. The unbundled option doesn't leave me with an upgrade path, whereas the bundled version probably does at end of contract period

<br />After 2 years you own the modem, unless it was upgraded in the meantime. It is stated clearly in Sentech's contract.

I stand corrected then [:I]

having done the math on the 24 month packages:
128K - Unbundled cheaper (R100)
256K - Unbundled cheaper (R100)
512K - Bundled cheaper (R1100) [?]

As noone whould say....WTF

My view:
When Sentech reviews it's pricing in January 2005... I would rather find myself
on a 12 month unbundled package!!! Worse case... I have the option to sell MY modem!
