Well now that ICASA have given the released the new regulations how long u guys think still Telkom adhere? I mean its a great prospect to be gettin local uncapped back but this a small step backwards since this was allowed before. Well lets hope this is step forward in the right direction.

helo welcome to the post

and we stil don't seem to know whats going to happen

Under the new Electronic Communications Act...it's supposedly immediately effective.

and as in local thats all sites with .co.za and other local sites?

does that benefit us?

no sites with .co.za aren't nesesarily locally hosted...

It's content that is located on servers in South Africa.

Yes it does benefit us, because if your mail is hosted locally, then once you're capped you can still get your mail. As well as this, companies who use ADSL VPN's between thier branches don't have to pay for bandiwidth. Then of course there is local VoIP... and then of course the torrents, hubs etc, for file sharing.

that means you can use dc++ again on ZA servers?

what are the chances of this happening? 0.0000000001% if we lucky ;/

The regulations will come into effect once the Sno also starts providing ADSL residential services i.e imminently or in reality another year to wait.

so the regulations don't mean it starts immediately, we have to wait till nextyear before it kicks in?
