I need help WRT my ADSL line. My connection dies quite often and then seems to sort itself out after a few minutes. Where should I start digging? New router? New pots filter? Telkom?

I have a fairly old Billion BiPAC 5200RC, below are a few lines for its logs during one of these disconnects:

start with the pots filter. picked one up for R99. sorted out my frequent (every couple of minutes) disconnects.

Its looks like your connection is on ADSL2, try changing it to ADSL.

And disconnect all your phones in the house and test.

Thanks guys. I unplugged all the phones this morning so lets see if that helps. @Rickster, any idea what the setting is that I would be looking for? ADSL mode?

It varies from router to router, mine is DSL mode.

If you see G.dmt, that is equivalent to the ADSL setting.

Unplugging my phone did not help. It seems to me like the issues normally happens when I start putting some serious strain on the line, by that I mean downloading at close to full speed.

I changed it to G.DMT, so lets see what happens (holds thumbs)... It was set to automatic, is it possible that the recent changes/upgrades caused my router to get confused when automatically selecting a mode?
