Just wanting to find suggestions on a new router preferably a little better than the TP Link TL-WR840N that was supplied to me by fibre company. The router is fine but I have picked up a problem that every now and then when I get home my phone (Huawei P30 lite) is not coonnnected . Its not a biggy but just very annoying . Is it worthwhile upgrading? We are 4 users at home

Yeah upgrade it, did they charge you for it? That router is a real low spec budget router.

Keep an eye on Carbonite. You can get a fairly high-end one (albeit secondhand) for decent prices.

I recently picked up an Asus RT-AC88U for 2.5k.

Yes - a favourite of some of our local WISPs. Gives issues as per OP's experience.
I've never had issues with my Asus N17u.
I like Asus routers.
