"New" series a year old?

Sorry, sure people have moaned about this before... but I just read the DSTV Newsletter. They're talking about season 3 of Better Call Saul being "new". You know, the season that ended in June.

I know they have "direct from the US", which is great. But I was always under the impression that TV shows were all within a day or 2 of actual live airings.

So what I always wondered, was Hell on Wheels ever aired on DSTV? Or will it be released some time next decade as a "ground breaking new western series".
And are you guys pirating or VPNing series to get them within the same year?

I'm only able to watch them 18 hours later, after I get home from work.

Adrianix - Being facetious. Cause BCS was released in April but only starting to air here 20th Dec. Just about the following year.

I just find the 1080p rips slow to be released, and that's only 10-12hrs.

Hell on Wheels?

Madhawk - So you're benefitting from 1080p?

Can't help wonder why networks allow such a delay. And which ashes are they talking about, 15/16???

DSTV stopped a lot of the direct from the US as people moaned that they didn't like the breaks in programming. So they wait till the entire season is ready and bam then everyone moans about the fact that it's late.

IIRC Hell on Wheels did show on AMC.

Breaks in programming? You mean during the actual screening? I only watched GoT. There weren't breaks mid-episode.
 
Drifter - No pirates mentioning it... But a lot of talk about getting netflix etc via VPN.

Anyway, that's sort of my point. DSTV are encouraging piracy.

As in The Walking Dead? Cause that's being shown direct isn't it? The Walking Overly-Emotional-talk about our feelings... I wouldn't know but I'm sure I saw the wife watching.

If it's direct from the US it will more then likely have a mid season break

Not sure how or where you download, but I find Webrips, 720p, 1080p as well as x265 Hvec 720p files in 30 minutes after airing in the US. The only thing that takes long is proper Blu-Ray Rips, which generally only releases 6 months to a year after being showed in the US.

But, not being facetious, I do agree with you. Some series do take a lot of time before it is being released in SA on DSTV. Not all shows air the same day.

Also, having said that, I download each and every series released in the US for my own entertainment - whether I watch it or not. I probably have 30-40TB of series on all my drives and backup drives. Who knows, maybe in 20 years from now I will get into something and will not have to search for it then.
