New small lathe

I am considering a new small lath like this as an example. Is there any other options in South Africa as well thats easy to deal with as well. Price range R20 000.00 - R30 000

Anybody have experience with this one.

Have you looked in the Classifieds (OLX, Gumtree, JunkMail)? You might find something decent going for a better price.

Whatever you do, don't buy the one from adendorff, their quality and after service is absolutely horrible.

Thanks, but it looks too big and looks freshly painted in white,Chuck & bed looks rusty, it may have had its days, not something I would buy 2nd hand at this stage.

The one from Adendorf represents more or less the size I want. It's going to cost me a fortune to buy something I have to restore in SA, USA seems very well organised in that regard.

I did buy a small drillpress from Adendorf. The motor is out of ballance, it fits a tad scew(I can fix this), its red plastic stop mechanism broke(This I remade from metal properly). The noisy spindle I made quiet by forcing boat bearing grease(blue) down it(Oil makes it more noisy, general grease too soft), it takes some effort though, it silent right up and stay so.

I basicly look for new resellers, some may not be on the internet, contacted Sieg, but no reply yet.

In the meantime I study that link I stumbled on.

If you able to maintain and fix it yourself when needed, it would probably be worthwhile I guess.
