New Sonoff has no fuse

You should use looked at the Shelly 1PM

It's 16A, multiple voltages /currents , ability to connect temperature probes direct etc. It's like a TH16, SV, POW R2 in a single device.

It has an internal temperature sensor on the PCB and down before issues - and it's got a user defined setting on consumption where it switches off. In other words, you can select 1500w or whatever - and it'll shut off as soon as it goes past that.

Regarding current draw, I'm not sure I'd use it in a geyser - but surely a pool motor is perfectly fine? They're seldom more than 1500w I thought?

The smallest geysers are like 3000w I think

You are ignoring the "inrush current" that any motor-driven appliance requires on startup. It is not about the average running current at all.

All this so-called convenience automation is pushing people into doing the most stupid of things.

WOW thanks for all the replies but we went slightly OT.
I need to control a 2500W heater.
It sounds like a contactor is something that goes on the mains circuit board? Probably not gonna work for my use-case, right?

Any other suggestions? Do I just put a fuse on the power wire going into the Sonoff and hope for the best?

Thanks again
