When I bought my new PC 3 months ago, I ordered a Creative X-Fi Xtrememusic card, but, on delivery, the supplier informed me that the card was no longer available anywhere in South Africa. I tried three other suppliers with the same result, yet there is one of these cards sitting on the shelf at my local Computer Mania.
The thing is, the card costs R1 400 here and I heard that, in Singapore, I could get a much better Creative card for about the same price. As my father is going to Singapore on business soon, I was wondering whether I should wait and see what he can dig up there, or whether I should rush and buy the Xtrememusic here while it's still available.
I am looking to spend about R1 500 and will mostly be using the card to listen to music over high-end Sennheiser headphones, do some audio creation/mixing and will be using my computer as a guitar-amp (with third party software). I am quite serious about quality, responsiveness (i.e. minimal delay) and SNR.
I am currently considering the X-Fi Platinum. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost in Singapore, bearing in mind that it is manufactured there?
