New Space faring nation.

Ansari X Prize

Unfortunaterly they are a bit late

Bert Rutan already got the prize ( Thanks to Paul Allen )

Perhaps a similar funder for the Southern Hemisphere may still come to light.

Far as I know it was in concept only and never flew.
The nukes were too unsophisticated and anyway much too heavy

All in all -- > a "paper-rocket"

Unless someone has docs and pics to prove me wrong :D

The RSA-3 definitely flew, but yes the nukes available at the time were too heavy. It is not surprizingly very similar to the Israeli Shavit.
A larger RSA-4 was also in the pipeline, but alas...

See here and here.

Very interesting

First link is not working for me.

Real pity SA "Space" industry had to start off on a war footing
Another victim of "apartheid"

Now we have to get the Russians to launch for us.

How the World twists and turns

Israeli's were assisting the apartheid Gov

SA Jews were all in bed with the ANC

SA Gov was helping the Iranians with URANIUM for Crude

Sounds like a version of "Heroes"

( But just shows how DUPED / DOPED everyone is )

It's a pic showing a launch, it's on the page the second link takes you to.

It simply wouldn't be economically viable for SA to have a space launch facility, it was always just a cover for the weapons program with a secondary capability.

Still very impressive for a little country at the tip of Africa though.
