Speed prosecutions will take place in both directions at the following areas:

* On the N12 at the Atlas Road, Kraft Road on- and off-ramps, and the Gilloolys Interchange.

* On the N17 at Wemmerpan and Gosforth Plaza.

* On the R21 at Petroport and the Benoni and N12 on- and off-ramps.

* R24 at the R21 split and Barbara Road on- and off-ramps.

Speed prosecution is valid from December 6, 2013, to November 30, 2014, and may continue should the 2014/2015 application be approved.

Motorists are advised by the EMPD to obey the speed limit as those travelling above 130km/h will be prosecuted.

They're big, they're painted orange, they're in full view.
Its your own fault if you are stupid enough to go through them at over 130 km/h.
Its not like they are trying to trap you with them. Those cameras are the worst.

No, keep in the speed limit and they will make no money from it. Will be a loss making installation.

Looks yellow to me. :)

Erm.. I though the point of speed camera's was to prevent speeding. So if there are no fines then surely that would be ultimate success for that camera?

They should rather use the e-toll gantries for average speed enforcement, much better than trying to enforce just a specific point (except red robots cameras, need many more of those) with a camera.

Just like they didn't built enough suites in the Cape Town World Cup Stadium so the rugby team could easily use it, seems many South Africans lack the brains to think and design ahead.

The gantries are owned an operated by SANRAL - not the local traffic authority.

And? Was there a reason they could not have been co-owned in whichever jurisdiction they happened to fall? As I said, SA has serious critical thinking skill issues (not just the SABC).

Not where the N12/R24 merges into the n3 South? And the N3 north into the N12/R24?

Why would you want a huge custom project like e-tolls to implement this for a small extra cost when the guy who is selling guavament the speed cameras can make a profit (read: more money for the gravy train to grease those gears). Chances are these contracts go to officials and their families or at least someone who is willing to pay for the tender.

The tenderpreneur doesn't even need the expertise cause he can just hire someone who can and take a nice bite off the top.

Because I am not an aspirant tenderpreneur or ANC lackey and actually care about the country...

I haven't seen any on R21 from Pretoria to Edenvale yet, but I'll check this evening because I wasn't looking for them until now :wtf:
