Ola MyBB,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3567 laptop (Service Tag: F94K6L2). Where would be the best place in Pretoria East to have the following done:

Remove existing HDD and move to CD Rom location, install new 240gb SSD and migrate existing windows installation to SSD
I would prefer to drop the laptop off and wait a while to pick, as this cant take to long can it ?

Thanks in advance

Hmm not to sure about moving the HDD to the CD ROM part will it fit ?... Rather clone it from an external chassis

He's going to lose 1Tb of storage I'd he doesn't use it internally. I've done this but it's not always a nice clean fit. I literally superglued the original CD ROM cover to the chassis since the drive bay cover wasn't a clean fit. It was an older PC though.
In a laptop ? Eish. But then again my lappie is thinner than my IQ

Not worried about the installed apps, just want to have windows. Will that make it easier ?

Thanks for all the replies guys / girls....

Would matrix etc be capable enough to pull this off ?

Will be cheaper to buy new laptop with SSD then
LoL. It was a bit of a joke, but I went to our 'best' PC shop a couple of days wanting a full ATX box. Guess what .. They sold me a mini ATX chassis. Then for fun I asked them for a molex to 4 pin cable and they looked more confused than a cow giving birth to a rabbit.

In that case just reinstall as it really does not take long. Download all the apps you use to the hard drive a day before the swap so it's all ready for quick installation and then simply move all you data across you want on the ssd.

Closest is Matrix shoppie in Monument Park...... Will swing past there in the week

I don't trust those guys, rather take it to one of these whichever is closest to you,
Rebel Tech - Office 3, Carlswald Decor Centre Cnr 5th Road & Harry Galaun Drive Carlswald Midrand - 011 462 6280
Titan Ice - 774 Jacqueline Drive (Across from the Edgar street intersection) Garsfontein Pretoria - 012 998 5668

Get a caddy for the HDD to fit in the optical drive slot, example only https://www.takealot.com/12-7mm-sat...egpGV7TyAVEvQC3OngoaAqqtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Being wanting to do this conversion for awhile now.
My Dell laptop is a pain to boot up. It take about 5 min to boot up and log on to internet.

My problem is keeping win7 pro so my design software still works.

You most likely have some hardware issues where windows cannot resolve or detect a certain device. 5 Minutes is a very long time even with a mechanical drive. Check your event log.
