Should I upgrade to 384 (192 atm) or wait and see if they do it automagically

*Edit*

Telkom website says this

Existing HomeDSL 192 customers will automatically be upgraded to the highest speed possible on the DSL384 service.

DSL384 will become Telkom's entry level ADSL offering. Customers who are unable to connect (sync) at 384 Kbps due to factors such as line length or quality will be accommodated down from 384 Kbps in 32 kbps decrements, but not lower than 192 kbps, until the service connects (sync's successfully).

D-day.....lets see!

On a related note, Telkom has still not published their full new price list (to my knowledge). I wonder if the price increases on less important services can be legally implemented?

your chances of actually being upgraded would not be affected by either decision. In other words, believe it when you see it.

I phoned telkom on friday morning to get my 192k line upgraded to 384k but they refused, saying that everything is automatically getting upgraded on Monday/Tuesday.

I doubt phoning is going to accomplish anything other than wasting your time.

yeah, right. Unlikely to happen.
EDIT: interesting if it does, because that would then prove that Telkom uses the same equipment for all connection speeds, and that the settings are configured on a database or similar.

agreed - but, then again, when has phoning Telkom EVER achieved anything?
