I recieved my Telkom bill a few days ago, and to my surprise, they billed me an additional R1500 for a Telkom POTS Router (Have had ADSL for >2 years). I imagine they did this along with the upgrade to 1Mb/4Mb and I would not put this past them as intentional.

Phoned their account queries and am now waiting for someone from their ADSL department to phone me back.

Another thing, is it just me or are Telkom Invoices confusing as hell???

They send you a Specified Statement, Account Summary, Telephone Detail and Invoice, all with different balances and amounts.

And why is it that I get charged R50 Interest on my account which is up to date, although not reflected on the statement. IOW I get charged interest because the Telkom accounts department is too incompetent to register payments?

Does every month have to be a nightmare to sort out their cr@p billing system :(

Telkom bills are a time of much stress

I see this month they carried forward 4 cents from last month even though I always pay in full and the amount owing.

They stealing my cents as well now

Write a letter to Telkom, go to their offices, declare a dispute and get a stamped and signed copy of your letter.

Telkom lacks the ability to keep correspondence safely and act on it. In the end they will cut your lines for being in arrears claiming that you never informed them. You won't get reconnected unless you pay this disconnection/reconnection fees.

I know - I learnt the hard way that no one in Telkom can be trusted.

Shame quik, though standard fare from Telkom. Of course their bills are confusing: "chief marketing tool" is confusion (NZ Telecom CEO's words).

Bitch about the interest non-stop. Find one person and harass them endlessly. You can get a refund, it has been known to happen from time to time. Just be anal about it, worked for me.

Debbie2.. What's scary to me is, how many people actually query this and how many millions do telkom make off this practise alone.

I think I'll start harrassing them tomorrow. But who loses at the end of the day? Me... and maybe some petrified telkom representative.

I honestly don't have the time or desire to argue with some "service consultant" (pun intended :p) for a couple of hours to sort out their mess :(

I was charged an extra installation fee when i upgraded my line. Phoned, moaned, was told someone would call me which they never and on the next invoice i had been credited the installation fee. You will come right eventually.

quik when i queried a bogus interest charge + a related charge (not a large amount of $$), it took me about 6 calls, 1 week, and about an hour on the phone. Maybe worth it for you, maybe not.

Yes I remember that video.
She summed it up nicely with her "confusion" comment.

You have a link for that video again. :)
That was a Antitrust Video if I recall?
