Hi,

Is anyone else experiencing random disconnects this morning. I have not experienced this before this morning, and have made no changes to my local side. I have a Linksys WAG54G, and up until this morning everything was fine, now the DSL port disconnects and reconnects all the time??

Connecting through Panorama exchange to Telkom DSL384.

There were some maintenance done by Telkom in bellville this morning.

Go to http://www.noticeboard.saix.net/ and log in with your ADSL user details - all maintenance work etc is there. You can also register to receive emails of all the work which is posted on the noticeboard.

That is useful, but I am not part of any of the scheduled maintenence or severity 1 faults.

The bizarre thing is if I run a continuous ping (keep alives) it wont disconnect me. As soon as there is no traffic it disconnects me. This should be a function of the ADSL router, but since I never changed anything its bizarre how it starts happening all of a sudden. Another really peculiar thing is when it disconnects and reconnects, it gets a different IP each time??? I thought the IP's were only rotated once a day, surely it should re-negotiate the same IP, unless its a different day?

My workaround is to create a custom service that runs the ICMP keep alives the whole time. Is it possible that whatever is responsible for re allocating IP addresses and disconnecting users each day, has somehow got stuck on my device?
