The dstv exploita shouldn't even be compared to the older TiVo models, because it doesn't offer any networking capabilities.

Yeah. I used to have one. It was/is limited to the first edition TiVo

We had a local tivo guide server (emulator) running in SA for the past 8 or so years, they recently stopped offering the guide service but I still use my tivo for manual recording. see http://tivoza.nanfo.com
