So i am moving from rain to fibre. I just decided to go all in and get myself 100/100 fibre for R1199. My question to you guys, is what do you use that speed for? i stream 4k netflix of course and gaming. I also download a lot so the speed would be very nice. How about you guys? what do you use high speed fibre for? Do you sometimes run out of things to do?

I also recently moved from Rain LTE to 100/100 fibre.
Fixed monthly internet budget without having to ration the bandwidth amongst family.
One advantage is that all family members can stream simultaneously without buffering (wife & 2 kids). My son's Xbox game updates & downloads are no longer a source of anguish.
Less downloading more streaming, but when I download I tend to look for higher quality files e.g. 4K HDR files.
Skype & Whatsapp video calling.
Easier to work from home.
Lots of free or cheap stuff to watch e.g BBC iPlayer, Sky News, Hulu, Showmax, Netflix, Disney+ & loads of cheap IPTV to choose from.

Do you use some sort of QOS/Rate Limiting to prevent big multi-stream downloads (eg Xbox Games, PS4 Games, Steam Games, Windows Update, etc) from local CDNs from overloading the line?
I find that when my son gets a new game (120GB+) the line is maxed out for a few hours and affects other users.
I've looked at "tc qdisc" but looks complicated (also not sure you can rate limit downloads with tc easily)
Any suggestions?
Personally find 4K completely useless - streamed one or two Netflix movies in 4K on my UHD 50", and couldn't see enough difference between that and standard Full-HD - downgraded my Netflix and save another couple of bucs. I'm a speed freak myself, so I "had" 200/100 - untill my line broke a week ago, and now I cannot get anyone from Axxess/OpensServe to fix it - if I could get 1GB/s tomorrow, I'd take it - just coz... But ya - right now, I'll take a 10Mb/s fibre line

On router settings you can set bandwidth control / QoS. Depends what router you have.
I have set a download limit on the Xbox, I think 15Mbps. There has been no complaints regarding gaming & minor updates. When he has a big game to download I remove the bandwidth limit - i.e. I set it to unlimited for the night.
All other devices I just left on unlimited. No complaints so far regarding streaming.

However for downloaded files it's a different story altogether. I see a definite improvement when I watch a 4K movie than a 1080p.
