Hi all

Im a long time lurker of this lovely site .. I must say its a great site keep up the good work.

I simply had to share my latest fun and games that I have had with telkom.

Being a long time adversary of theirs .. and letter writer to newspaper their latest stunt has even had me gobsmacked.

We moved house two months ago .. prior to that I had cancelled my telkom internet . when we applied for new line i stated VERY VERY clearly I do not want their internet account I use a cheaper one .. (axxsess) no problem says Telkom .... Ist month comes .. no account , I leave it because we all know half asleep they are besides they were still phoning me daily to ask when when we would be at home for installation (they had already installed the line!!!) and I was having a lot of fun messing the techies around about installation dates and what not (after the line had been installed)

I get a very snotty phone call that our line is going to be disconnected and I phone them it takes the entire morning to get through by which time im fuming !!! they had the address wrong .. no problem they fax through my account and lo and behold what do I see ??? yep telkom internet .... i pay my account less the telkom internet which i didnt ask for and dont want .. and they are happy and im happy.

Monday I get a call .. "your line is to be disconnected "" I blow several fuses and spend 4 hours speaking to several useless people about the dispute I have logged !!!! no problem says x y z no of whom can speak or understand English .. I relax knowing my problem has been dealt with .....:eek:

This morning as is usual I make my coffee and toddle over to the pc to read the news ... and ....... no connection ??? puzzled i check the router , and then the phone !!!! The sodding %$%^%$ have disconnected my phone over a lousy R230.87 for a service provider i didnt want , and didnt ask for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:

It has taken me entire morning to sort this blasted mess out !!!


They did however tell me that my dispute has been resolved and the credit shows on next months account ... but they cut my line now !!!!

I wonder who I can bill for the hours I have spent sorting this out ??

the credit will show on ur next month's bill but I'm pretty sure Telkom will charge you for the re-connection fee...

Dunno anything about that, but what exactly stops Telkodemonopoly from improving its service levels?

At the moment nothing. That will change in the future though.
BTW, that scenario is so similar to ones I have had it almost makes me laugh. Telkom still phone pretty much every day to tell me that ADSL is now available in my area. Thanks for that but I have had ADSL now for many months...
