Greetings All,

Please could someone point me in the direction of some good mac "How to:" reading material?:o

The company that I work for recently merged with a mac only company and now I am having issues of not being able to support the macs as I have never worked on them before.

any of the sams teach yourself books are great, especially teach yourself osx leopard!

Digicape also offers training on wednesdays and saturdays.

Thanks guys, was perhaps looking for some sort of PDF.
Ill try arrange myself a Mac from them for Home.

Usenet is your friend? But you really want to get a hardcopy too. Meyers and Lee, Mac OS X Leopard: Beyond the Manual (APress, 2008), was very useful to me as former Win/Linux guy.

Good luck!

As stated by others using the Mac is the best way of learning and always remember - Google is your friend.:)

If you really need to support quite a few machines then I would highly recommend doing some training through either Core, Digicape or similar

Start of with the Support Essentials for Mac OSX and then progress to the Server Support. NOTE that you have to pass the exams before being issued certificates.

http://www.digicape.co.za/ - one of the largest retailers in SA and good guys. ( I am not connected to them, just impressed by the level of service I got when buying from them.)

http://www.core.co.za/ - these guys are the distributors for SA BUT have made a real mess of the job!

I know all about Core....not to impressed. Hence me having to support the macs myself.
I will do some research into courses on this and then take it from there. But I will defanitly get one for the house so that I can play around in my own time.

Thanks ;)

whilst support essentials is the route recommended by apple, the course and training i found to be extremely sad (in other words, get the book and do it at home for certs)....Server essentials was worth the course cost though...simply because leopard server is buggy, that its nice to have someone telling u the way they do it rather than a textbook way which does not work..
