Hi please advise, i want to do moutain biking, so i need to know some basic thigns. like which brand bike to buy?, how much is a entry level bike costs, what type of bike should i get? sizes?:confused::rolleyes:

Please help
 
What is your budget like - how much are you willing to spend? you going to be doing serious mountain biking or more just for fun?
 
budget = R2k
mountain biking just for fun:) maybe later serious mountain biking if i like it.

I saw one at Trade Center, they told me that i can get it for R1.6k. will be going there tomorrow... :)
 
maybe also have a look at sportmanswarehouse as they also stock pretty decent bikes...

...the more serious bikes though would fall our your budget, i realised that when i started looking around as well
 
Bike prices are crazy. Anywhere from R2000 for a piece of heavy metal with leaden components to R45,000 for a top of the range racing mountain bike.
Even a decent entry level street racing bike costs R5000 for a basic one and more like R15,000 for "average" street racing bike though I've seen bikes costing R75,000 :eek:
 
I remember getting my M-bike for like R600 a few years ago.....is it really more than R2000 these days? whoooaaa...
 
that's what i thought, boy was i in for a shock. but sportmanswarehouse has some decent bikes.
 
Buy a good second hand one. Make sure you get a good frame as a priority. The rest can be added on/upgraded as you see fit/as it breaks.

Getting a ****e frame will only necessitate you to buy another one if you decide you like the sport and want to get more serious.
