Hi,

New to NAS drive and just bought a synology to store my files on. Two questions please:

1. Is it possible to "wake up" a NAS drive from my PC if I have turned it off (via the NAS power button)
2. Is it possible to automatically backup my external drives (connected to my PC) to the NAS and copy only what is "new" (not currently on the NAS)

Thanks in advance
Vic

Really good move going Synology :)

1. You shouldn't need to switch it off. Mine has been running for 255 days without issue. To answer the question : https://kb.synology.com/en-ca/DSM/tutorial/Which_Synology_DiskStation_supports_WOL_Wake_on_LAN
2. Using Synology Drive as the app ( file syncing, not true backup i.e versioning ) https://community.synology.com/enu/forum/1/post/140063

1. If it supports wake-on-lan you could use software to wake it up remotely over the network
2. Freefilesync
