Hey guys. Im a new to the photography thing and am only 16. I have a look at all of your photos and I think they are awesome.

Anyway I have myself a Canon 400d with the standard 55mm lens. Not the best but its all I can afford. I'll be around chatting to you guys about stuff.

I have 3 photos I like in my album. Maybe you could have a look and tell me what you think. The dog in the one photo is my dog btw ;) - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/album.php?albumid=306

Hello and welcome

First of all get yourself a flickr account, it will be much better.
I like the dog pic a lot, could be a little sharper if taken at a higher speed but not bad at all. Im 17 (so close to 18...) and also take pics, although with a point and shoot camera...
I should have new pics going up very soon, so sign up to flickr and add me
:D

Flickr is the bomb.. I really need to get my ass into gear and add more photos, i've got some real beauts now...
 
Welcome YPSA. Some guys here do awesome stuff with older kit than yours, so you'll be fine. Wish I had my own SLR at 17 :eek: :)

Don't mention your age on a 18&older site :)
While not the top of the range camera there's nothing wrong with it. It's actually more than decent.
 
There is nothing wrong with the 400d and standard 55 mm lens. The 55 mm lens also allows you to do some degree of macro photography which is nice.
